Gloucestershire Recycles have launched a competition and six lucky winners will win a hot compost bin. Hot compost bins create compost in a fraction of the time that it takes cold compost bins. The temperatures inside a hot compost bin give the microbes breaking down the organic matter loads of energy meaning they make compost in super quick time.
All you have to do to take part in the competition is pledge to compost this year. A pledge is a simple way to let us know that you want to do more composting and help towards a Greener Gloucestershire. We will contact you about your pledge via email to see how you get on.

1. Why is Gloucestershire Recycles running a competition?
Gloucestershire Recycles is a partnership between the county and district councils in Gloucestershire. We want everyone to reduce the amount of waste they make to create a Greener Gloucestershire. The competition is an incentive to get people to compost at home.
2. Why do you want people to compost at home?
Composting has a multitude of benefits, it creates healthy soil, reduces carbon emissions and saves you money.
3. What are the alternatives available to a hot compost bin?
If you do not have outdoor space available winners will be able to request a bokashi bin that can compost indoors. Bokashi bins will only be available to entrants without outdoor space.
