Simpler recycling for households
Simpler Recycling is legislation being introduced in England to reform households’ and business’ waste and recycling collections.
A new simpler approach to recycling means people across England will be able to recycle the same materials, whether at home, work or school, putting an end to confusion over what can and can’t be recycled in different parts of the country and enable householders to recycle as much waste as possible and to frequently dispose of bad-smelling food waste, which will be collected from all households at least weekly.
What does this mean for us?
As standard, from 2026 all councils will have to collect
- non-recyclable waste
- food waste
- paper and card
- plastics
- metal
- glass
At the moment, in Gloucestershire, all Councils are currently collecting these items so we are not expecting big changes in the county, however there may be slight changes to how or when they are collected. You council will contact you in a timely manner if and when changes are expected.
