Are you contaminating your recycling? β™»

One of the biggest ways people contaminate their recycling without realising is by wishcycling. Wishcycling is where you put something in your recycling when you aren't sure, in the hopes that it will be recycled.

WRAP’s research on recycling attitudes and reported behaviour reveals that 82% of UK households add one or more items to their recycling collection that is not accepted locally. This can reduce the value of materials destined for recycling or in some cases cause the whole load to be disposed of if the contamination is too high.
