What happens to it?

Metals are collected from the kerbside mixed with plastics and glass. It is taken to a materials recovery facility (MRF) in Birmingham where it is sorted and separated from other waste streams.  It is then transported for recycling. Find out more about Materials Recovery Facilities here.
