Where to recycle large electricals

Large electricals (anything as big as a microwave or bigger) are just as easy to recycle. They can be broken down into a couple of categories:

Cooling appliances 

This is anything with heat pump and propellant and that cools. Examples include fridge, freezer, domestic air con unit. These have hazardous chemicals inside that need to be carefully removed and recycled. You can recycle these at the Household Recycling Centres within the fridges/freezers section, within your councils bulky waste collection (visit your council's website for more information) or if you are buying a new one, the company will offer like for like recycling on that appliance.


TV's, screens and monitors

TV’s and monitors have an abundance of precious resources like metals found on the circuit board that when recycled help reduce the need for new resources. They are also easy to recycle at the Household Recycling Centres within the TV's and monitors container, within your councils bulky waste collection (visit your council's website for more information) or if you are buying a new one, the company will offer like for like recycling on that appliance.


General large appliances

The are things that are the same size or larger than a microwave.

Examples include:

  • Microwave
  • Air fryer
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Electric heaters

These can all be easily recycled at the Household Recycling Centres within the large appliances container or within your councils bulky waste collection (visit your council's website for more information).
