Sides

🟩 Stuffing - Making your own stuffing is easy, it is just breadcrumbs, egg and herbs. It can be made ahead of time and frozen ready to use when needed. Lots of loose food shops also sell stuffing mix that you can put in your own packaging, contact your local loose food shop to see what they can offer.

🟨 Cauliflower cheese - Most of the ingredients for cauliflower cheese can be bought plastic free. Butter, cheese (from a counter or deli), flour, seasonings like mustard and the cauliflower itself are easy to purchase with no plastic. Alternatively glass jars of cheese sauce are readily available.

🟫 Pastries - most store bought, ready-rolled pastry packets only have a thin layer of plastic and otherwise have all cardboard or paper packaging, this can then be used for all sorts of sides and snacks. If you do have time to make pastry it freezes really well and can be ready rolled and wrapped in paper to go in the fridge or freezer for later.

🟥Pigs in blankets and other meats - ask your local butcher or supermarket counter what the plastic free options are. Some items can be sold with no packaging and you can bring your own tubs to transport and store the items in! Think about alternatives for pigs in blankets, sliced ham and chicken, and even some small meat joints.
