It wouldn't be a coronation party with out lots of red white and blue decorations. Here are a few ideas on how you can make yours a Greener Coronation party without compromising on style!
Textile waste has a very high carbon footprint, it probably creates more carbon that the other waste in your bin. It is important that when we are planning our street party outfits, we are aware of the impact of buying new items may have, especially if it is an item we might not wear again.
If you are looking for ideas on how to reduce this carbon footprint, why not try:
- Have a party fit for a monarch. Have a royal dress code for your party where your guests can wear their finest frock. Everyone can dig out that item that they have been saving for a special occasion and prevent it from gathering dust at the back of a cupboard
- Go for a red white and blue theme. It is likely that people still have items from the Jubilee in these colours.
- Visit a charity shop or use a second hand online platform to buy something to fit your theme. Reusing clothing is 70 times better for the environment than producing new clothes, so buying second hand clothes can give an item a new lease of life. If you have items that might be perfect for a coronation party but that no longer fit you, try and donate them to a charity shop or sell them online in time for someone else to buy second hand ahead of the coronation weekend.
