Where is it taken?

Plastic bottles, tins, cans and aerosols collected from the kerbside are taken to a Materials Recovery Facilities for sorting. Then they are sent for processing.

What happens to it?

The aluminium cans are smelted down and turned into new alloy ingots (metal bars) ready to be made into more recycled metal products.

The steel cans are processed and turned back into steel sheets and ingots (metal bars) ready to be made into more recycled metal products.
