Where are they taken?

Plastic bottles, tins, cans and aerosols collected from the kerbside are taken to a Materials Recovery Facilities for sorting. Then they are sent for processing.

What happens to them?

The recycled plastic bottles can be made into various products including drainage pipes, compost bins, water butts, carrier bags and fibres for clothing such as fleeces and carpets.
