Everyone visiting the Household Recycling Centres are required to pre-book their visit.

Gloucestershire County Council’s Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) close for one day mid-week, either on a Tuesday, a Wednesday or a Thursday (with the exception of Wingmoor Farm HRC which opens 7 days a week). All sites operate seasonal opening hours.
Summer opening hours: 9am to 5pm
Sunday 25 October 2026 to Saturday 27 March 2027
Winter opening hours: 10am to 4pm
Fosse Cross HRC in Cirencester and Oak Quarry HRC in Coleford are closed on Tuesdays.
Pyke Quarry HRC in Horsley, near Stroud, is closed on Wednesdays.
Hempsted HRC in Gloucester is closed on Thursdays.
Wingmoor Farm HRC in Bishop's Cleeve is open 7 days a week.
All HRCs are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
In winter, HRCs across the county receive almost 30% less waste and recycling. To reflect this and save taxpayer's money, HRCs move to seasonal opening hours and open six days a week.
Council data shows that HRCs are quieter midweek. The closure pattern means residents should have another recycling centre available, as sites on opposite sides of the county close on different days. We will monitor the opening arrangements and how the sites are used. The closure rota also means HRCs will still be open on Bank Holiday Mondays and Good Friday, which are especially busy days.
