What happens to them?

Household batteries collected at the recycling centres are sent to AA Batteries Ltd in Nuneaton where the different materials in the batteries are extracted and recycled.

Car batteries collected at the recycling centres are sent to a specialist UK based re-processor where the metals are recovered to be used in new metal products. The plastic casings are ground and pelletised by plastic processors so they can be used in new plastic products.
